Just a reminder that The Long Green Line will be screening in St. Charles, IL tonight. Legendary Coach Joe Newton will be in attendance. Details below:

On the evening of August 18th, Dick Pond Athletics and the Nike Corporation will present: The 2009 Cross Country Kick Off at the historic Arcada Theater in downtown St. Charles. The highlight of the evening will be a showing of the full length feature film, The Long Green Line which is a story of the 2005 York High School Cross Country team’s rise through adversity to the school’s 25th IHSA State Cross Country Championship.
In addition to the showing of the film, legendary coach Joe Newton of York High School, will address the audience and answer questions. If you have not seen the theater, or seen the film, or heard Mr. Newton speak, I can assure you that any one of these experiences individually would be worth the trip. Seeing as how all three of these will be presented, free of charge, on that one night, is a once in a lifetime opportunity.
Therefore, please reserve the date of: August 18, 2009 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. so that you can help us make this event a huge success. We need to demonstrate to all that this far western suburban area is strong enough in it’s distance running history to support such an endeavor.
For those of you who are coaches, I need to know from you in the next 5 days, where and when you hold your summer camps so that I can come to hand flyers to your athletes. I also need to know the date of your last camp meeting. This is an event that transcends team rivalry. The film is, in my opinion, the best movie on our sport ever made. Each and every team that participates will be better for having had this experience.
You will be hearing more about the event in different forms in the next several weeks. We are asking for RSVP’s so that we have a feel for how we’re doing. Please communicate with me by phone or email.
